TEAM LEADER COACHING
Today’s businesses rely on teamwork more than at anytime before. Whether these teams work physically together (think modern nested production lines) or remotely (think most modern software companies or most creative industries), team dynamics are both the best accelerator for creativity and a very effective value destruction sledgehammer when things go south. Pressures of all kinds have a knack of revealing the true nature of teams and today’s teams don’t function well just left alone.
Creating effective teams, minding individual team dynamics, building relationships, mediating, managing pressure are all modern skills that are more than ever necessary to our modern way of business. Changing teams quickly when they don’t perform is today as important as it was to re-tool a large production machine between production shifts of the last century. Research shows that the most effective teams are self sufficient and constantly re-forming to adapt to changing circumstances.
Producing tangible results
Mitigating (i.e. getting rid of) negativity empowers the team to act, create and for sure sometimes get lost in the weeds and blunder. This is where the effective coach comes in: mediating conflict, finding resolutions, taking solutions to line management as an advocate of the group rather than of any particular agenda. The coach helps the team shine and produce the results (and only that) they are tasked with.

Optimizing workflow
Think of team workflows as a complex logistical exercise where conveyor belts are modelled on the most challenging Los Angeles freeways so called spaghetti junctions.
The experienced coach outside eye will simply zero in on those processes that are key to getting things done (think exit numbers clearly labelled), and those that are merely a waste of time and energy.

Why business coaching ?
A growing number of organizations recognize the value in building a coaching culture that offers employees at all levels the opportunity to grow their skills, enhance their value and reach their professional goals.
Investing in coaching pays off: Coaching can shift your organization’s culture by moving away from a command and control leadership style to collaboration and creativity.
Organizations with strong coaching cultures report that 61 percent of their employees are highly engaged, compared to 53 percent from organizations without strong coaching cultures. Organizations with strong coaching cultures also report above-average revenue growth in relation to industry peers.*

I have experience and time tested methods for all of these typical business situations, and more… Take the advice from people you want the results of : my results speak for themselves – over 25+ years in Private Equity, the companies I invested in for my institutional clients returned 2.8x the cost of the investment in an average holding period of just over 3 years.
I can help you do the same.
Result focused offsites
Most companies see the value in organising offsites to take the distractions of day to day business away from the serious task of visualising the future, be it as a new strategy, the story that need being told investors at the coming AGM or the objectives of the impatient salesforce for the coming period.
Most executives will also recognise some of these shortcomings as they have experienced them:
A verbose leader who dominates
An over ambitious agenda
Long sessions with no regard for the universal circadian clock
Insistence on brainstorming during the post prendian (after lunch) period
Activities forced on hapless executives keen to please their boss (also keen to please staff and appear modern)
The truth is : the best offsites (as measured by how critical are the results achieved) are often the shortest and most focussed. This is rarely achieved when participants are allowed a free rein at managing the offsite. And it’s not much more likely when business leaders double up as master of ceremonies either.
My experience of countless offsites has taught me that if chairing a meeting is a proper job then chairing an offsite meeting is a career! Business that want results and a good return on the time and money they invest in such team meetings depend on outside coaching, within defined parameters and a well constructed objective and timed agenda. My experience is delivering against the tight timetables Private Equity is famed for, often in hostile or negative environments, and with high stakes. I feel very comfortable helping teams get the most of their offsite, all the while returning to work the next day fresh with new perspectives and without the famed hangover!
